FAQ for First day and Beyond:

1. What do you bring on the first day? A smile and great attitude first and foremost! Any paperwork for Financial Aid or the Business Office that you were asked to return, a notebook and pen to jot down important facts.

2. What to wear? You will receive a uniform shirt during orientation. Wear black pants or skirt, black closed-toe shoes, groomed hair, skin, and nails. Your daily uniform requirements will be reviewed during orientation.

3. What to expect the first week(s)? A lot of fun! It can be overwhelming, but we are here to help. There will be a lot of information given to you, so don’t be surprised if you are called back to an instructor office or asked to speak with an administrator. There are seemingly endless compliance requirements, so completing and submitting paperwork on time and handling all elements of your enrollment in a timely way will make your experience at L’esprit Academy smoother. You will receive a checklist so you can visit every station we have setup, check off the items and make sure everything is done!

4. Who will be the teacher? You will receive an email with your class schedule your first week of school.

5. What should I plan for food? There are refrigerators and microwaves at all locations. There are many restaurants close by all locations to dine-in or take-out. There are outdoor eating options with benches and picnic tables.

6. Where to park? At our Canton location, you can find parking along the side of the buildings at both the Training & Headquarters side and the Student Salon side. We recommend parking in the corner lots. At our Royal Oak location, you can find hourly or monthly parking at the garages located on Lafayette between 6th Street and 11 Mile (there are 2 garages). The first two hours are free and they accept cash or card! There is information at the garages about monthly passes. Street parking (metered) is highly discouraged. Royal Oak Parking Authority is very strict and those $10 tickets add up!

7. Where can I get more information? Visit our website www.lespritacademy.com/consumer-information for links to our student catalog, drug and alcohol policy, campus safety/annual security report and other helpful content.

8. What is “Orientation”? For the first several days we will be assigning lockers, distributing uniforms, books, and portions of kits, hosting team building events, getting your thumbprint for the timeclock scanner, and giving you your name badge among lots of other amazing education! Some classes might even participate in a graduation and awards ceremony!

9. Where do I go for Orientation? At the Canton location, all students will go to the Training Center & Headquarters at your designated start time and day.

10. What if I’m late or can’t make it the first day? Relax if you’re running behind! Just give us a call to let us know, we understand that “life happens”, especially on important days! Please program the main number 734-762-0200 (Canton ext 101 and Royal Oak ext 117) into your phone now so you have it at your fingertips. Please email nikki@lespritacademy.com or call if you cannot make it the first day. We want to make sure you have a proper orientation before you start so we will plan to make alternate arrangments for you.

11. Why is Royal Oak starting a week later than Canton in September? Arts Beats & Eats is a major festival which is scheduled in Royal Oak on Labor Day weekend each year. Many of the roads and parking lots are still not opened by the Tuesday following the event. It takes a lot of work to clean up after and we need to have the extra time to ensure the start is smooth and well supported for the best possible student experience!

12. Who do I go to with questions? You will receive an email before you start with information about our staff and who to go to when a question or concern needs to be addressed. We will also have information at each campus to guide you.
